CBOSS Equipped Bangladesh
Russia’s CBOSS deployed IT solutions in three Bangladesh networks: M&H Telecom, Bangla Trac and Mir Telecom. These operators have been competing with the incumbent Bangladesh Telegraph and Telephone Board (BTTB) in the traffic routing market.

In February 2008, the government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh announced a tender to provide International Gateway (IGW) and Interсonnection Exchange (ICX) services. Out of 26 bidders, 3 companies - Bangla Trac (Bangla CAT brand), Mir Telecom and NovoTel - were granted licenses for IGW services and 2 companies - M&H Telecom and GETCO - for Interсonnection Exchange services. The incumbent BTTB providing fixed-line communications and Internet access used to be the traffic routing monopolist. In October 2008, CBOSS launched the hardware supply project (see ComNews news dd October 20, 2008).
According to CBOSS, solutions for M&H Telecom, Bangla Trac and Mir Telecom are based on CBOSSinterConnect, as the operators faced similar business tasks - transit traffic routing. The customers can now charge and bill interconnect traffic and provide primary reports to regulators and partners.
The automated interconnect settlements system CBOSSinterConnect is purpose-designed to offer accurate accounting, charging, analysis, and reconciliation of transit traffic and to provide operators with a full-scale interaction channel. CBOSSinterConnect can charge transit traffic based on such parameters as local time, least cost routing, and load on traffic directions.
Biplob Biswas, Head of Billing and IT at Mir Telecom, says, “CBOSS’ efforts have minimized our license-related risks and reduced our costs.”
