Spice Nepal Scales Up Convergent Success

CBOSS Corporation, a leading provider of OSS/BSS solutions for telecommunications, announced that Spice Nepal Private Ltd., a Nepalese mobile network operator, has once again contracted with CBOSS for a substantial upgrade to its comprehensive integrated CBOSS solution to support 3 million subscribers.

Launched in September 2005, Spice Nepal Private Ltd. (SNPL) is the first privately-owned GSM network operator of Nepal. From the very beginning, the company adopted the strategy of offering its customers a wide range of high-quality modern services billed in real time, which allowed SNPL to achieve great success in rapid expansion of its subscriber base and to effectively compete with the state-owned monopolist Nepal Telecom.

The rapid subscriber base growth was enabled by the comprehensive convergent industrial IT solution from CBOSS. The first upgrade of the license of the software-hardware complex was ordered by SNPL already after 18 months of the system operation. At that moment, the solution was scaled up to serve 900 000 subscribers. After the coming upgrade, it will support 3 000 000.

The CBOSS solution automates all aspects of SNPL's business including billing, customer care, settlements with service providers and interconnection partners, network management, mediation, messaging, VAS, business intelligence, reporting, and dealer support. The solution is based on the convergent real-time billing system CBOSSrtb running on the ultra-reliable server HP NonStop.

Using the solution from CBOSS enabled SNPL to provide its customers with a wide range of modern, high-quality, and robust services.

Today, the upgrade is in progress. The number of HP NonStop's processing units has been doubled to 8 and new signaling links have been added, which provides extra capacity and enables fault-tolerant real-time processing of all transactions, allowing for further subscriber base expansion. The project also includes the implementation of CBOSSrtb's new configuration - Load Sharing Mated Pair. The configuration involves one more HP NonStop server, which enables not only higher capacity but also unsurpassed reliability and system maintenance without operation interruption.

"The CBOSS solution allows our business to dynamically develop", said Dmitriy Zaika, CEO of Spice Nepal Private Ltd. "We are sure that CBOSS will help SNPL to become a leader of the regional market in the near future."
